If an individual is on dialysis, this is usually a long term situation and it is understandable that it is necessary to continue their treatment, whilst they are having a holiday. Another example would be that somebody with type one diabetes would also require insulin injections, whilst on holiday.
As a result of this, if the customer who requires dialysis, simply wants to go on holiday, we would not classify this as “travelling with the purpose of having medical treatment or consultation”. However, I must stress that it is the customer's responsibility to arrange and organise their dialysis and any other medications they require to treat their condition whilst abroad. As this is not covered under the policy. We would of course provide emergency medical treatment, should something happen.
An example of someone who is “travelling with the purpose of having medical treatment or consultation”, would be someone who is travelling with the sole purpose of having treatment, medical procedure or consultation abroad, e.g. if a customer was travelling to turkey to get a hair transplant, or if someone was travelling to America to receive a surgery for therapy that is not available in the UK.
